筆者の下手糞な作例に対して、プロ方面の方々から絶賛を頂戴するほどのレンズ。この最新設計でも何でもない、ノンアポ、ノンアスフェリカルの言わば時代遅れのレンズの虜になるファンも少なくない。「意外性」という言葉があるが、このレンズの場合はまさに「それ」で、普通のスナップが「歴史の証言者」となり、拙宅の駄犬が王侯貴族の「お犬様」になってしまうほどの実力の持ち主。言葉を尽くせば、様式美の中に格調と伝統を取込むかの如き、その描写性能そう表現力があると言えそうである。その魅力のために「最短 50cm」という弱点が消えてしまう。もう一方のドイツの雄、Carl Zeiss 設計の Distagon 35mm/f1.4 とはライバル関係になるのだろうが、描写に関して言えば全く異質のものである。
Despite of my poor quality samples, many even pros are gave the 'best' title just because those photos were taken with this lens. This non-APO, non-ASPH lens produces paint-like result which is different from any other lenses in the market. In other words, its lofty and traditional composition within the framework of outstanding style(!) attracts many fans. All those advantages easily make us forget about its closest focusing distance of 50cm. The other leader, Carl Zeiss, Distagon 35mm/f1.4 has been known as its rival, however the way it approachs of making photo is different so that you will enjoy both lenses at once.
