Summicron-R 50mm/f2 (Type I):

Ｒライカを語る上で、必ず出てくるあるいは避けて通れないのがこのレンズ。Ｍ型用の同名レンズの改良版（５群６枚）に先駆けること約５年、Ｒライカ用レンズとして先に発売された初代（シリーズ６）とそれに引き続く、E55 タイプ、いずれもがスタンダード・オブ・ザ・スタンダードの名に恥じない描写をする。

E55 タイプも優秀だが、１９６４年の初代発表当時はさぞや「びっくらこいた」事と思う。色ノリ、描写、その均質な透明感は何者にも代えがたい。勿論、マクロ・スゥイターや、ＣｏｎｔａｘＳＬＲ用プラナー等の優秀レンズさらにはキヤノン、ニコン等の優秀レンズが登場するが、まあ、それらのレンズはＲライカには付かないので、うーん。何とも言えない。(^^;ゞ

要するにＲライカで 50mm/f2を使いたいなら、このレンズしかない！（強引ダケど！）

Amongst R-Leica enthusiasts, there is a rumor that this earlier model produces a superb result in contrast. We believe that when compared with M's namesake at the time of the production, it was envisaged that this lense was a better performer. Compared with current E55 version, there is a difference in contrast and tone reproduction, however, the difference shall not be criticised as a matter of quantity but likes and dislikes.

レンズの造作では、旧型に軍配が上がる。フードを逆さまに装着した姿は美しい。E55タイプになって、描写がより素直になっているように思える。旧型には数種（？）のコーティング違いがあり、それぞれ違っているという話も聞く。

余談だが、Elmarit-R 35mm/f2.8 の初期型の更に 1st Version の鏡筒は、Summicron-R 50mm/f2の初期型と酷似している。また、それぞれフードは共通で使える。

フード＃１２５６４，フード・キャップ＃１４１６３及びシリーズ６フィルター、フィルター・リング＃１４１６０。フード・キャップに関しては＃１４１６３Ｋという一回り大きな物もあるようだ。

For construction, this tiny lense has everything such as hood #12564, hood-cap #14163, Series 6 filter and filter-ring #14160. There is a hood-cap #14163K which has a wider diameter.

There are some similarities between Summicron-R 50mm/f2 (Type I) and Elmarit-R 35mm/f2.8 (Type I). The biggest difference was the width of the focusing ring, i.e., Elmarit has a wider one.
外見上、全く差が無いが写真左が２カム（２４３万番台）、そして右が３カム・レンズ（２５２万番台）である。コーティングに関しては、３カム・レンズの方が、Magenta が濃い。

Summicron-R 50mm/f2 fits R7 which calls the typical image of the camera to mind. Beautiful ! isn't it?
