４群４枚構成の現行、、生産が中止されているから、最終型と呼ぶべきか？Type I との外観上の違いはフードが内蔵されている点であるが、本質的な描写の違いは見いだせないレベルである。カラーに於て、このレンズの方がややヌケがいい気がするが、その程度である。開放から実用になるピントであり、緻密な描写を特徴としている。各収差の補正も必要充分で、万能レンズの感がある。その意味において欠点らしい欠点が無く、反面その生真面目さが災いして「面白味」に欠けると評する人もいる。所詮、好みの問題の域であるが、このレンズを「嫌い」というヒトにはお目に掛かったことが無いのだから、その意味では優れたレンズだと思う。

This Type II was introduced in 1984 with the less elements (4-elements) compared with its predecessor (Type I). However, the crucial difference between Type I and Type II is not noticeable. In color photo, there is a slight difference in production of color but that difference is within the difference of film brand and/or color temperature. Crisp image even at the full aperture and corrections of the various aberrations are perfect. Flatness of the field is superb that makes this lense even to copy books etc....
同じ９０年代を生きたボディ（Ｒ７）と組み合わせてみた。モダンな現代彫刻を見るようだ。大きさ、重量のバランスが良く、やや小型のＲ４−Ｒ７によくマッチする。内蔵フードの遮光性を云々するよりもこのカタチはこのカタチで素晴らしいと思ったほうが得である。このレンズを含めて３本くらいのレンズとＲ７の組み合わせはもうそのまま「世界一周」に出掛けても構わないくらい軽快であろう。そんな、余裕の旅を夢見ながら今日もせっせと働くのである。

There are few criticism of claiming about its tiny and scanty hood, however, do you really carry a bunch of photo-equipments which are about to spoil the fun of traveling light !
